That was a lot of question marks. Claire had explained that the question marks indicated that they were of a much higher level. He had seen a few question marks when they took on a bog beast with two other squads. This was the first time Isaac was meeting someone that outclassed him so thoroughly.

“Thanks for coming, Isaac, “the sergeant said as he walked in, “I was sorry to hear that your last posting ended on a sour note. But I have already talked to your next opportunity and they would be happy to have you. The forward scouting group heard about your wonderful skill and they would like you to join them. I hear that the woods west of here have a group of tressym monsters that would make great mounts. They would work with you to Dominate a group of them so the scouts would have flying mounts. Your roll wouldn’t be on the front lines, only support.”

Isaac wasn’t too sure about that. He would basically be in charge of their transportation, a glorified bus driver. Not exactly the path he thought was.

“And of course, this would come with a higher rank and appropriate additional pay.

Well, that was different. And now that he thought about it, flying around with the scouts would put him in a variety of different situations. Perhaps this was the path to his destiny.

Just then, another man walked into the room. It looked like he was wearing a cross between a suit and armor. Protected yet sharply dressed. He addressed the sergeant and said, “Starting without me, Williams? I know I was a bit late, but this is beneath you.”

“He’s a good kid, Herrod. It’s better that he doesn’t hear your offer at all,” Sergeant Williams said.

Isaac inspected the newcomer.
